British Columbia Dragoons take to Vokes Range for Comprehensive Exercise
On the weekend of 27-29 September 2024, the British Columbia Dragoons (BCD) conducted their first range exercise of the 2024/2025 training year, EXERCISE AMIENS DRAGOON I 2024. EX AMIENS DRAGOON I 2024, is held annually at Vokes Range in Chilliwack BC for The British Columbia Dragoons to ensure soldiers individual battle task standards are met and additional range activities can be conducted.
In addition to Personal Weapons Tests 1-3 using the C7 Rifle and C8 Carbine, EX AMIENS DRAGOON I 2024 also permitted additional range training activities that included: C9A2 Light Machine Gun range, C22 Pistol range, Para Illumination flare familiarization, and a night shoot familiarization with AN/PVS14 Night Vision Devices and AN/PEQ-2 Infrared Target Illuminator.
According to British Columbia Dragoons Commanding Officer, LCol Trevor Waaga:
“EX AMIENS DRAGOON I 2024 is an important launchpad for the remainder of the training year for The Regiment, and ensures we’re continually improving individual soldier proficiency, and completing required annual individual battle standards. It was a well attended exercise for The Regiment, and provided opportunities for soldiers to train on additional equipment that is typically carrying as part of their fighting loadout.”
