British Columbia Dragoons Train for Winter Weather
The British Columbia Dragoons conducted their first Regiment-wide Exercise of 2019, Exercise Dauntless Dragoon. From January 25-27, the British Columbia Dragoons trained in winter warfare, winter maneuvers, and winter survival. Accompanied by members of 12 MP Platoon, The British Columbia Dragoons, conducted winter training at the Vernon Military Camp and Silverstar Ski Resort.
With Friday night occupied by the road move, Saturday morning was spent in the classroom and drill hall to learn the practicals of surviving in Arctic and Sub-Arctic temperatures. A priority was placed on winter mobility as The British Columbia Dragoons and 12 MP Platoon conducted winter vehicle maintenance, dismounted winter patrolling, and establishment of hides and harbours in a winter environment.

Sunday morning, The British Columbia Dragoons and 12 MP drove to Silverstar Ski Resort for additional mobility and winter survival training, followed by avalanche training and a visit by the 39 Brigade Commander Colonel Ursich CD and Brigade Sergeant Major Chief Warrant Officer Gardner, CD.
With 12 MP returning to Richmond, the BCDs returned to Vernon Military Camp for post-exercise drills and maintenance As the weekend drew to a close, Major Peters capped it off with two promotions as Trooper Yskes was promoted to Corporal, and Corporal Parmalee was promoted to Master Corporal.
