INVICTUS Games Flag visits Kelowna
British Columbia Dragoons’ Day Staff helped welcome the Invictus Games National Flag and flag bearers to Kelowna this summer as part of the Invictus Games National Flag Tour. The 2017 Invictus Games is a parasport event for wounded, injured or sick armed forces personnel and veterans, which will be held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The 2017 Invictus Games kicks off September 30th in Toronto ON as a multi-sport event for injured or sick armed forces personnel and veterans. Started in 2014 by Prince Harry, the Invictus Games will feature over 550 competitors from 17 different countries in 11 different events.
To help promote the 2017 Games, an Invictus Games National Flag tour is traveling coast-to-coast on a 37 day cross-Canada Journey. The official Games flag will travel with 150 Flagbearers from across Canada and visit 22 military bases, 15 legions and over 50 communities who have been a part of Canada’s rich 150-year history.
The Invictus Games National Flag Tour started in Victoria, British Columbia on August 16, and travels as far east as Gander, Newfoundland, before finishing in Toronto on September 22, as the 2017 Invictus Games kicks-off. This August the Invictus Games National Flag visited the British Columbia Dragoons at their Lawrence Avenue Armoury, before being set up for pictures at The Sails in downtown Kelowna.
